Iveland, in Norway’s Setesdal region, is known for its granite pegmatites, which have produced a wide range of unusual minerals. Xenotime-(Y) is a yttrium phosphate that occurs in these pegmatites, often as brown crystals embedded in feldspar and mica. Some Iveland quarries have produced notably large specimens, making the area an important locality for collectors interested in rare-earth minerals. This specimen comes from the collection of John C. White.
