Willemite from the Oxida Zinc Orebody at Mina El Potosí comes from the Santa Eulalia mining district, one of Chihuahua’s historic mining areas. Santa Eulalia has been mined since the 1700s and is known for its extensive underground workings and wide variety of zinc, lead, and silver minerals.

The Oxida orebody was worked at considerable depth, with Levels 13–17 representing part of the deeper workings of Mina El Potosí. Willemite is an important zinc mineral from the district and is less commonly encountered than some of Santa Eulalia’s better-known secondary minerals.
