Tyrolite

Drawer G-MN0338

$120.00 USD

Locality:

Mammoth Mine, Tintic, Juab Co., Utah

Dimensions:

6 x 4 x 3.5cm

This tyrolite formed in the oxidized zone of a copper-rich deposit, where arsenic- and calcium-bearing waters deposited delicate blue-green crystalline coatings within fractures and cavities. The Mammoth Mine, part of Utah’s historic Tintic Mining District, is known for producing a wide variety of colorful secondary copper minerals.

Fragile and vividly colored, this specimen reflects the late-stage chemical processes that occur near the Earth’s surface, preserving a striking example of secondary mineral formation in one of Utah’s classic mining regions
