$85.00 USD
Locality:
Barberton, Transval, South Africa
Dimensions:
5 x 4.5 x 4cm
This stichtite formed through the alteration of chromium-rich ultramafic rocks, where hydrothermal processes transformed earlier minerals into vivid purple masses of magnesium chromium carbonate. The Barberton region is one of the classic localities for stichtite, known for its association with serpentine-rich rocks.
Rich in color and naturally distinctive, this specimen reflects the complex alteration processes that occur deep within ancient metamorphic terrains of South Africa.
