his native silver formed within ancient copper-bearing rocks of the Lake Superior region, where mineral-rich fluids deposited metallic elements in fractures and veins over a billion years ago. The White Pine Mine, best known for its copper production, also yielded occurrences of native silver within this historic mining district.
