Roman Bronze Arrowhead "Trilobate"

The trilobate bronze arrowhead is a type associated with ancient Roman military equipment, with examples dating from roughly the 1st–3rd centuries AD. The three-lobed form was designed to create a distinctive wound and was used on projectiles such as arrows and possibly light javelins.

This example was collected in Gaul, the Roman name for much of present-day France and surrounding regions. During this period, Gaul was a major part of the Roman Empire, and military equipment found there reflects the Roman presence and movement of troops throughout the province.
