Washington Camp is a mining area in southern Arizona, part of the Patagonia Mountains. Mining in the district dates back to the late 1800s, with silver, lead, copper, and other metals worked through numerous underground mines.
The quartz from Washington Camp is known for Japan-law twinning, a distinctive growth pattern where two quartz crystals meet at a specific angle. These twins are an interesting feature of the district’s mineral specimens and are a nice example of the unusual crystal forms found in Arizona mining localities.
