Sapat Gali in northern Pakistan is known for producing well-formed, gem-quality peridot crystals in bright green shades. The deposit lies within an ultramafic rock complex in the western Himalayas, where the crystals formed in altered dunite.

Fine specimens became available to international collectors in the 1990s. Unlike much of the peridot sold as gemstones, material from Sapat Gali is prized for its natural crystal shape and glassy green appearance.
