Mimetite-Pyromorphite series with Duftite

Yanga Koubenza is part of the historic M’Fouati mining district, one of the better-known mineral areas in the Republic of the Congo. Mining in M’Fouati dates back to the early 20th century.

The Yanga Koubenza quarries have produced a variety of collector minerals from old workings in the district. Specimens from here are relatively uncommon, making this an interesting locality from the Congo’s mining history.
