Malachite and Chrysocolla

Mashamba West is part of the famous Kolwezi copper-mining district in southern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The area has been mined for decades and is known for producing important copper ore and collector specimens.

The mine is particularly known for its colorful secondary copper minerals. Malachite and chrysocolla specimens from Mashamba West are collected from the mine’s workings and are well known among mineral collectors.
