Malachite

Mashamba West is part of the Kolwezi mining district, a major copper-producing area. The mine is located in Katanga Copperbelt, which stretches across southern DR Congo and into Zambia.

The mine is well known to mineral collectors for its stunning malachite specimens, including botryoidal and fibrous forms. Mashamba West has produced many notable copper-mineral specimens and is considered one of the important collector localities in the Kolwezi area.
