Locality:

M'fouati, M'fouati District, Bouenza Department, R.O.C

Dimensions:

4 x 2.5 x 3.3cm

Collected from the historic zinc deposits of M'fouati, this hemimorphite formed through the oxidation of zinc-rich ore bodies near the Earth’s surface. As groundwater interacted with primary minerals over long periods of time, silica- and zinc-bearing solutions slowly crystallized into the delicate blue-green formations characteristic of hemimorphite.

Specimens from the Republic of the Congo are often admired for their soft coloration, glassy luster, and botryoidal or crystalline textures. The gentle blue tones come from trace elements present during formation, while the mineral’s distinctive crystal habit reflects the changing chemistry within the oxidized zone of the deposit.

Light, intricate, and naturally luminous, this specimen preserves a beautiful example of secondary mineral formation within Central Africa’s copper and zinc-rich terrain.
