Fluorite "Butterfly Pocket"
Drawer G-MN0371
Locality:
Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo District, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia
Dimensions:
4 x 2.5 x 1.5cm
This fluorite originated from the famous “Butterfly Pocket” of the Okorusu Mine, a highly regarded discovery known for producing exceptionally aesthetic fluorite specimens with delicate internal zoning and sharp crystal form. Formed within a carbonatite-hosted hydrothermal system, mineral-rich fluids slowly crystallized fluorite inside open cavities, allowing the crystals to develop with remarkable clarity and structure.
The soft green to bluish coloration seen in Okorusu fluorite is caused by trace elements and natural radiation exposure during growth. Specimens from the Butterfly Pocket are especially prized for their luminous appearance, subtle phantom patterns, and elegant crystal arrangements that seem almost weightless against the matrix.
Refined, geometric, and highly collectible, this specimen captures the quiet precision of crystal growth within one of Namibia’s most celebrated fluorite localities.
