Erythrite from the Sara Alicia Mine near Álamos is known for its vivid magenta-pink, needle-like crystals. The mine produced cobalt-bearing minerals, and erythrite formed as a secondary mineral during the weathering of cobalt ores. Mexican specimens are less commonly encountered than material from the famous Bou Azzer district in Morocco, making this a notable locality for collectors.
