The Ahumada Mine is located in the Los Lamentos mining district, one of Chihuahua’s historic mineral-producing areas. The district is particularly known for its lead, vanadium, and uranium minerals.
Los Lamentos is a classic Mexican locality for unusual vanadate minerals, and endlichite is one of the species associated with the district. Specimens from the Ahumada Mine are relatively uncommon and represent a distinctive part of Chihuahua’s mineral-collecting history.
