M’Fouati is a historic mining district in southern Republic of the Congo, with mining activity dating back to the early 1900s. The district became known for its copper, lead, and zinc deposits.

M’Fouati is an interesting locality for collectors because its old mines have produced a wide range of colorful copper minerals. Dioptase is one of the more uncommon species reported from the district.
