Wheal Gorland was one of Cornwall’s famous copper mines and operated mainly during the 18th and early 19th centuries. It became especially well known for producing unusual and well-formed copper minerals.

The mine was part of the historic Gwennap mining district, one of Cornwall’s most heavily worked mining areas. Wheal Gorland specimens are now highly regarded by collectors, with many coming from old collections rather than modern mining.
