The Tsumeb Mine is one of the most famous mineral localities in the world. Mining began in the early 1900s, and the mine became known for producing an extraordinary variety of minerals.
Tsumeb was worked to great depths, with the deepest levels reaching more than 1,700 meters underground. Its unusual geology created conditions for an exceptional range of specimens, including many rare and uncommon minerals.
Cerussite is one of the classic minerals from Tsumeb, where it has been found in a variety of crystal forms. Specimens from the mine are highly regarded by collectors because of Tsumeb’s reputation for producing exceptional crystal specimens.
