Austinite

Austinite from Mina Ojuela, Mapimí, Durango, Mexico comes from the famous Ojuela Mine, one of Mexico’s classic mineral localities. The mine was developed extensively for silver and lead, with mining in the area dating back to the Spanish colonial period. Ojuela is particularly well known among collectors for its large variety of secondary minerals.

Austinite is one of the more distinctive minerals found in the oxidized portions of the deposit, making it a notable species from this historic locality.
