The Kruchev Dol Mine is part of the Madan ore district in Bulgaria’s South Rhodope Mountains. The Madan region has long been known for its underground lead and zinc mining.
The district is a classic Balkan mineral locality and has produced excellent specimens of galena, sphalerite, quartz, and other minerals from its underground workings. Sphalerite on galena is a characteristic combination from this important Bulgarian mining region.
