Rutile on Hematite

Novo Horizonte is a well known mining area in Bahia, Brazil, particularly famous for its  rutile specimens. The region has produced material for collectors for many years and is considered one of Brazil’s classic localities for rutile.

Rutile crystals from Novo Horizonte are often found associated with hematite, creating a nice contrast between the metallic hematite and bright rutile crystals. Specimens from this locality are highly recognizable among Brazilian mineral collectors.
