Mount Teneriffe in King County, Washington, is known for its unusual quartz twins, including the Japan-law twin. This formation occurs when two quartz crystals grow together in a specific orientation, creating a distinctive V-shaped or intergrown crystal form. The local quartz formed in cavities within fractured rock associated with the Snoqualmie batholith around 25 million years ago.
