Prehnite

This prehnite formed in cavities within basalt, where mineral-rich fluids slowly crystallized botryoidal and crystalline masses during low-temperature alteration. The Paterson area is a classic American locality, known for producing fine prehnite associated with zeolite minerals.

Softly green and naturally sculptural, this specimen reflects the gentle post-volcanic processes that create prehnite, preserved within the basalt flows of northern New Jersey.
