This specimen formed when iron-rich solutions coated preexisting quartz crystals, creating a natural veneer of iron oxide across their surfaces. The mining district of Santa Eulalia, active for centuries, is renowned for producing beautifully crystallized minerals from its extensive carbonate replacement deposits.

Combining the durability of quartz with the warm tones of iron oxides, this piece reflects both the complex chemistry of oxidizing ore systems and the long mining history of northern Mexico.
