Lavender Chalcedony
Drawer M-MN0373
Locality:
Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia
Dimensions:
2.5 x 1.5 x 2.5cm
Known for its unusually soft purple tones, this lavender chalcedony developed as silica-rich solutions slowly filled cavities within volcanic rock across West Sulawesi. Over time, microscopic quartz fibers compacted together to create the smooth texture and gentle translucency characteristic of chalcedony.
Material from the Mamuju Regency has become especially desirable among collectors due to its rare pastel coloration and glowing appearance, qualities seldom seen in chalcedony from other regions. Subtle mineral inclusions and shifting chemical conditions during formation gave each piece its own unique depth and tone.
Calm, luminous, and naturally elegant, this specimen showcases the quieter side of volcanic mineral formation while highlighting the unique beauty of Indonesian chalcedony.
