Hubnerite and Quartz

The Huayllapon Mine is part of the Pasto Bueno mining district, a remote high-altitude mining area in the Andes of northern Peru. The district has been worked for tungsten for many decades.

Pasto Bueno is particularly well known among collectors for its tungsten minerals and excellent quartz specimens. Hübnerite is one of the signature minerals of the district, making specimens from Huayllapon a classic representation of this important Peruvian locality.
