The Second Chance Mine is located in the historic Tombstone mining district, famous for the silver boom that began in the late 1800s.

Tombstone became one of Arizona’s most important mining towns after the discovery of rich silver deposits in 1877. Hundreds of mines and prospects were developed around the town, leaving an extensive network of old workings.

The Second Chance Mine is a smaller locality within this historic district and has produced fluorite and quartz specimens. Its connection to the famous Tombstone district gives specimens from the mine an interesting piece of Arizona mining history.
