Elbaite

Elbaite from Coronel Murta comes from the Jequitinhonha Valley, one of Brazil’s best known pegmatite regions. The area around Coronel Murta has produced a wide range of collector minerals, particularly colorful tourmaline, beryl, and other pegmatite specimens.

Coronel Murta is part of Minas Gerais’ long history of gemstone and mineral mining, with many small pegmatite workings scattered throughout the region. Elbaite from this area is valued for its range of colors and crystal forms, making it a recognizable Brazilian tourmaline locality.
