Double Tourminated Quartz var. Amethyst with Hematite incl.
Drawer B - MN0325
Locality:
Amethyst Road, Gyodong-ri, Samnam-myon, Ulji County, Ulsan, South Korea
Dimensions:
7.5 x 4 x 2.5cm
This amethyst formed within open cavities in volcanic rock, where silica-rich fluids crystallized freely in both directions, producing a naturally double-terminated quartz crystal. During growth, iron-bearing minerals were incorporated into the structure and later oxidized to hematite, creating internal red inclusions and visual depth within the purple quartz.
The Amethyst Road locality is known for producing distinctive amethyst specimens with strong color zoning and complex internal features. This piece reflects uninterrupted crystal growth in an open pocket environment, preserving both clarity of form and mineral inclusions from its formation history.
