Chrysocolla

Chrysocolla from the Cunyari Mine in Huancavelica is known for its intense blue to teal color and unusual botryoidal growth. Some specimens form rounded clusters of chrysocolla that stand out strongly against the darker matrix.

Cunyari material started getting a lot of attention from collectors in the early 2020s, with new finds showing up on the mineral market around 2023. It’s a relatively modern locality compared with many of Peru’s historic mining districts, which makes the specimens an interesting part of newer Peruvian mineral collecting.
