Santa Eulalia is one of Mexico’s oldest and most famous mining districts, with mining dating back to the 1500s. The district grew around its silver, lead, and zinc deposits and developed into a large network of underground mines.

The area is especially well known to mineral collectors for its colorful secondary minerals, with malachite and calcite among the many species found throughout the district. Santa Eulalia has produced specimens for generations and remains one of Chihuahua’s classic mineral localities.
