The Zard Mountains are part of the Ras Koh mountain range in western Pakistan. The region is rugged and sparsely populated, with mineral collecting often taking place in difficult desert and mountain terrain. Specimens from the Ras Koh Mountains are less commonly encountered than amethyst from Pakistan’s better-known northern localities.
