Gold Hill is a mining district in western Utah, located near the Nevada border. Mining began in the late 1800s, and the district became known for its production of copper, lead, zinc, silver, and other metals.
The district is particularly interesting to mineral collectors because its oxidized mine workings have produced a variety of colorful secondary minerals. Adamite is one of the notable collector minerals from Gold Hill, while limonite commonly forms the earthy iron-rich matrix surrounding specimens.
The A. Parker Collection provenance adds an additional piece of collecting history to this specimen.
